How Can I Pass Outgoing Mail Through Windows Xp Internet Connection Sharing?

Submitted by admin on September 16, 2009 – 4:39 amOne Comment

I have a few computers sharing internet access over satellite. I cannot use a router with this, one computer must host the modem. I’m using Windows XP ICS. Shared internet access is fine. I can check mail fine from any computer (pop3) with Outlook. But I cannot SEND mail out (smtp). I can send from the computer hosting the modem, but not the others. I tried using port forwarding from the host computer to the IP of my ISP’s smtp server: No good. I tried Analog X Proxy which has an SMTP feature, and I could send messages, but none with attachments. I even tried hosting a basic SMTP server, which works, but it’s hit or miss whether the mail server I’m sending to will recieve (says I have a dynamic IP and can’t send them mail). Help?
And no, I can’t get either DSL or Cable out here (boonies).
Thanks in advance.
