I have Comcast email service right now but I want to be able to access my email more efficiently with windows mail. Also if people could explain what all the pop3s and smpt thingies are that would help a lot in the future
ASP has nothing to do with this person’s question.
short answer: you set up an account in windows mail using your comcast username and password, and comcast’s pop3 and smtp server settings. i don’t use vista so i don’t know where the settings would be.
POP3 = Post Office Protocol, version 3. this is the protocol used for checking mail that’s already been sent to you and is waiting on your ISP’s mail server.
SMTP = Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. SMTP is the protocol used to send mail to an email address (more specifically, to a mail server).
