Yahoo Email Spam Problem?

Submitted by admin on September 16, 2009 – 4:39 am4 Comments

I’m having this HUGE problem with my yahoo email account. Other day, I received an “failure notice” stating that one of the email does not exist. I was confused because I didn’t send any email around that time. I looked in my Sent folder and saw that a Spam email was sent to every of my contacts. The message that was in the emails is
hi:
New shopping new life!
How are u doing these days?Yesterday I found a web of a large trading company from china, which is an agent of all the well-known digital product factories, and facing to both wholesalers, retailsalers, and personal customer all over the world. They export all kinds of digital products and offer most competitive and reasonable price and high quality goods for our clients,so i think we you make a big profit if we do business with them. And they promise they will provide the best after-sales-service.In my opinion we can make a trial order to test that.
Look forward to your early reply!

E-mail: vanigo@188.com

this is the message that was sent to all of my contacts. I thought that my email account got hacked so I changed my password immediately to a whole different password. Next day, it happened again even with the new password, so I deleted all of my contacts so it wont have anybody to send spam to. Now everytime I send an email to anybody, the same spam message will be sent along with my email. It’s starting to piss me off so I sent an report to Yahoo customer service. I get an response and of course its an automated answer that states to mark the message as spam which does not help at all.
What is going on and how can I stop this crap??? I appreciate your help

Your computer is infected with a worm. Download MalwareBytes’ anti-malware and do a full scan of your computer (may take a while).
    Good luck.

    Try e-mailing Microsoft’s Chinese-based service(in English, of course), and explain the situation…

Most likely, your PC is infected (as another answerer said). Antivirus programs aren’t perfect, but try using avast (it’s free), scan everything after installation (don’t use two antivirus programs on one PC), install Spybot Search&Destroy (free, scan everything) and Spyware Blaster. Don’t use Internet Explorer, use Opera. Remove all cookies and temporary files. Also install firewall (Comodo is a good one and it’s free). In the worst case scenario – format HDD, install OS from scratch (not a biggie, just back up the crucial data).

    Bad News… & it’s “going around”- too! :(
