Large Email Marketers: a Guide to Sign up Forms

Large email marketers are a group of bulk email marketers that are in the business of high volume email marketing. This is a simple scaling up of operations from the usual few hundred mails to a few hundred thousand mails. This is a normal progression in any business as word spreads about the business proposition that you offer and more people get attracted to it. This form of bulk email marketing requires some talent to execute because handling large volumes of communication is particularly difficult. The really fragile part is actually in the address database itself.

An address database is really a simple thing from a software and hardware perspective but the fragility comes in another form. There is always a chance that a high percentage of your addresses could suddenly opt-out of your service. This happens when the users are not interested in reading the updates that you have to offer or if your material is too bland for their liking. In either case, your users could simply unsubscribe from your service en masse and decimate you database in no time.  This means that you can never mail those users again as per CAN SPAM regulations. In any case, whether a mass migration happens or not, you still have to keep your database stocked up.

Large email marketers in high volume email marketing usually place sign up forms all over their website as the first step to eliciting email addresses. The sign up form is really very basic or can be as complicated as you want to make it. Crucially, you want to know who the user is and what the user’s email ID is; to this effect, all you need is the name and email address as two text fields. Now, this is very basic and if you usually send very specific emails to your audience then you would need more information like what kind of newsletters the user would like to receive. It can get even more complicated and end up being a complete “tell us about yourself “ exercise where you dedicate an entire page to acquiring demographics and other information for profiling. The final verdict on this would be that depending on your standing in the industry, you can only use an elaborate sign on form if you are a name to be reckoned with. Additionally, if you have many content categories then giving the user the option to choose content is equally necessary; however, never have overlapping information.

Large email marketers also form strategic partnerships with other entities on the internet to ensure that their databases are always stocked with information. These are methods that you should always use, irrespective of the size of your organization.  There is also much to be said about your ability to make a meaningful relationship with your partner that would be mutually beneficial. Social networking sites are quite a good method in this regard.
