Problem With Gmail Account And Outlook 2007?

I have recently set-up my Gmail account with outlook 2007. I had to manually configure with POP. However, I do have a problem, I only receive incoming mail when I first initially sign into my outlook. I do not receive anymore emails from my gmail account when outlook 2007running. I have to close outlook and re-open outlook to retrieve new emails from Gmail. What can I do to fix this problem?
Did you download the Gmail set up for outlook 2007.
